LIPOSCULTURING / LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction, or simply lipo, is a type of fat removal procedure used in plastic surgery. Evidence does not support an effect on weight beyond a couple of months and it does not appear to affect obesity related problems. In the United States it is the most commonly done cosmetic surgery.

How long does it take to recover from liposuction?

About two weeks

Under most circumstances, when liposuction is an outpatient procedure, recovery is usually quick. Most people can return to work within a few days and to normal activities within about two weeks. You should expect bruising, swelling and soreness for a least a few weeks.

Is liposuction permanent?

Liposuction permanently removes fat cells, altering the shape of the body. However, if the patient does not lead a healthy lifestyle after the operation, there is a risk that the remaining fat cells will grow bigger. The amount of fat that can be safely removed is limited.

How long does it take to see results from liposuction?

Final results usually take between 6-12 months, but most patients see the beginning of results within one month. Usually by 3 weeks much of the swelling is down and most patients are looking better than before the surgery and are able to wear a swimsuit and go on vacation.

How to get the best results from liposuction?
  • Wear Your Compression Garment. After liposuction, your body’s natural response is to fill the treated area with fluid.
  • Maintain a Healthy Diet. Right after the procedure, it is important to drink plenty of liquids to stay well hydrated.
  • Exercise
Do you lose weight with liposuction?

Liposuction in NO way is a weight loss procedure. In fact, liposuction is for patients who are at their IDEAL body weight; however, have resistant localized deep fat deposits and they have unsuccessfully attempted exercise and diet. Liposuction does NOT help you lose weight. If anything, it is a body sculpting tool.
